Fall 2020 Season – Schedule & Special Circumstances

  • Registration will close Thursday, August 20th - Any divisions that do not have enough players registered to field at least two teams by that date will be canceled and refunds will be issued (except Babe Ruth – as long as we are able to schedule against other leagues).

  • Player evaluations will occur on Saturday, Aug 22nd. These are optional for players to attend, if registered players do not attend they will be placed on a team via hat pick.

  • Practices may begin as early as Aug 24th. Coaches will contact players after the Draft on August 22nd.

  • Games will begin the week of Sep 7 and end the week of October 19.

  • If, for any reason, the season has to be canceled between August 22 and Sep 7, refunds will be issued, less the cost of uniforms.

  • Once games begin, if the season has to be canceled or suspended due to COVID-19 (state or county mandates, or an outbreak in the League) no refunds will be issued.

  • If any player or member of a player’s immediate family (or anyone that lives in the same household) tests positive for COVID 19, they will be required to report it to the League....and the division they play in (all teams) may be suspended for at least two weeks after Board review.

  • Equipment sharing

    • All players will need to provide their own batting helmet

    • There will be no catcher position fielded in T-Ball or Rookies

    • Catchers at other levels are encouraged to use their own equipment – any equipment shared between players not in the same family must be disinfected before someone else uses it. Parents who are not comfortable with sharing of disinfected catcher's equipment should let the coach know before games start.

  • The league has arranged a discount day at Dick’s Sporting goods on August 15th where players can receive a discount on personal equipment.

  • All equipment and dugouts or areas designated as dugouts will be sanitized after every practice and game (guidance on this process will go out to team managers and team moms).

  • Masks will be required in dugouts or areas designated as dugouts where appropriate social distancing is not possible, but will be optional (not required) on the field.

  • Any pregame or post game team conference must be socially distant, otherwise coaches and players must wear masks.

  • There will be no “lining up” for postgame handshakes.

  • Parents will be required to sign COVID -19 Waiver forms for Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken League, Prince William Count Parks and Recreation and/or others, as required, prior to the first practice.

  • Parents and players will follow all league & county guidelines and realize that those guidelines could change at any time. Fans should follow 6' social distancing guidelines while attending the games.

  • Most games are played at Nokesville Park (Older levels may play home & away games against other Babe Ruth leagues)
  • Player evaluations are held in an attempt to ensure balanced teams - players are not required to attend player evaluations and will become "hat picks" if not present
  • Everyone registered will be placed on a team
  • Practices are on weeknights at Nokesville Park - coaches will communicate day/times after teams are drafted (practices may be held on Saturdays until games start)
  • Games are on Saturdays and some weeknights
  • Requests for playing on teams with friends can *usually* be accomodated at the lower levels (T-ball/Rookies) but cannot be guaranteed at the higher levels
  • Registration Fees include - Jersey, Hat, field usage, baseballs, umpires (where applicable) and team equipment.
  • Your child will need a glove. Cleats are optional at the lower levels. Coaches will relay additional information regarding athletic cups (where applicable), pants & socks.
  • If you want your child to play up or down a level, please use the "Division Transfer" request on the registration page *after* you have registered for the age-appropriate level.
    • Requests for division transfer are not allowed between Cal Ripken & Babe Ruth levels
    • Players will be reviewed for division transfer during player evaluations (more details on the request page)
  • Send an email to with other questions

Why Play at Brentsville Baseball League?

Baseball is one of the greatest team sports.  It promises the smell of grass, the feel of the wind rushing by as you run to base, and the joy of cheering on your teammates.  At BBL we recognize that not every baseball player will be able to play in the major league.  We do believe, however, that all players have the same chance to develop a love and understanding for the game of baseball that can be passed-down for generations.  At BBL we believe that baseball is more than just a team sport, we believe it is a family sport.  At BBL our primary goal is not limited to just perfecting a baseball player’s skill, it also includes providing the greatest possible atmosphere to foster the development of being a good teammate and having a successful attitude.  To effectuate this, BBL implements a specific player development strategy that includes teaching age-appropriate skills through organized, fun, and challenging practices, open line-up batting, and, of course, plenty of family involvement!

What parents are saying about our League:

"This was our son's first experience with baseball. We could not be more thrilled with the phenomenal Pirate's coaches! Our son learned so much from them and had a great time - too. All of the parents and players on the team were very kind and friendly, The family atmosphere in this league is a breath of fresh air! We couldn't have asked for a better experience! "

"Can only speak for Coaches Martin - Bassett - and Buscemi - whom I personally observed with the children, they were amazing! Thanks for another great season with BDYB; we'll be back in the fall! "

" We could not have asked for a better coaching team with  Ward - Bauer and  Warren. We absolutely loved their commitment - knowledge - professionalism and love of the game that they shared with our kids. They connected with each child's ability and focused on improving from there. Wheather we won or lost the kids were always smiling. Fantastic experience. "

" You run a really great program and I love the focus on developing all the players"

" Enjoyed it so much...looking forward to playing again in the Fall! Already registered!"
